FAQ

  • I HAVE NO FORMAL TRAINING AT ALL. WILL I BE LOST IN THIS COURSE?

No way: this course was designed for novices. We'll keep things simple and conversational, with practical concepts to develop your skills. All you need is an open mind and a good work ethic, and you'll do great!

  • I DON'T HAVE A PODCAST. SHOULD I STILL TAKE THIS COURSE?

Absolutely! Interviewing is just a formal kind of conversation, and conversation skills can benefit anyone. Whether you're a podcaster, broadcaster, public speaker, B2B marketer, content marketing executive, corporate trainer or social media influencer, the insights in this course can benefit you.

  • WHAT IF I DON'T HAVE PRO-LEVEL RECORDING EQUIPMENT?

No problem at all. This is not a production course - it's about the core skills you need to say something worth recording. Feel free to use whatever gear you have, even if it's just the voice memo function on your phone. Or if you're producing a podcast now, you can apply these lessons and assignments on your show right away.

Joshua Johnson

Trainer

JOSHUA JOHNSON has been an interviewer since he was a little boy, asking probing questions while using a stick as a microphone. That innate drive to connect and communicate led him to the highest levels of broadcasting. Most recently he anchored programs on MSNBC and NBC News Now, based at 30 Rock in New York. While there he launched "The Week", one of MSNBC's first live weekend primetime programs. Johnson also launched "NOW Tonight", a weeknight primetime newsmagazine on the streaming channel NBC News Now. MSNBC recruited him away from public radio, after three years as the founding host of NPR's daily news talk program "1A", based in Washington. The show's producing station, WAMU, ranks among the most listened-to radio stations in America. He headed east from San Francisco, where he served as the morning newscaster at KQED Public Radio. During his time there, KQED was the Bay Area's #1 station, and the top NPR station in the country. While there he taught podcasting at the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism. Johnson is a native of South Florida, graduating from The University of Miami School of Communication. He is an active member of the National Association of Black Journalists and the National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association.
